Dates. They are healthy and are really tasty. I have bought some that had the pits removed and I can tell you that they don’t last very long because it is suddenly very easy to eat a whole handful at once without worrying about having to spit out all the pits.

What is your go-to healthy snack food?

Since I have breakfast at 8am I sometimes feel hungry at 11am/11.15am. If I’m hungry I eat any sweet that is available in the house or a couple of biscuits.

Nowadays I bring small sachets of masala oats/sweet oats which can be cooked fast and eaten. I eat half a packet of these oats if sweet is not there in the house.

  • I eat mixed nuts which usually gives me around 130 calories. I eat 5 almond, 5 pistachios, 5 cashews, 2 walnut and 3-4 peanuts. It is full of fiber and healthy fat. It gives me energy and also keeps me full for longer time. Nuts also help me to maintain ideal weight.

What are some good snacks to have around the house?

I have lots of fresh fruit, especially the small mandarin oranges and “lunch box size” honey crisp apples. I also freeze grapes and strawberries. I like to make fruit and Greek yogurt popsicles to have on hand. During fall I buy the large container of trick or treat individual bags of pretzels so I just eat one of the tiny bags instead of eating an entire regular bag of pretzels. I pop popcorn with a little bit of coconut oil and sea salt. I will usually eat some fruit with the pretzels or popcorn. I also hard boil several eggs, cut one in half and spread a little mayo on the cut edge. I will bake oatmeal raisin cookies for my grandsons served with fruit as a snack for them and give them the rest to take. home. I will buy Fiber One bars if I know I am going to need to have a snack in my purse while going somewhere.
